"Tapaswi-O-Tarangini" represents the perpetual dilemma of falling in love and rising above it. The story revolves around political, religious and personal predicament through the extreme classical use of Bengali words and thoughts. Wrishwasringa, the protagonist of the play falls in love with an artisan, who is appointed politically by the Minister-in-charge. The dilemma of love, lust and unfulfilled desire of two people leads to the everlasting devotion. The main attraction of this drama performed by Kasba Uttaran is acting and stage performance. Lead actors like Subhabrata Ghosh, Sulagna Chakraborty, Mouma Naskar, Pradip Mandal and Swatisree Ghosh are the names, who have graced the presence with their performances."
"Amongst all the poetic dramas of Buddhadeb Basu, "Tapaswi O Tarangini" is one of the most difficult plays to be staged, I believe. Theatron had taken an initiative to perform this drama with permission from my father 40 years back, and did well. Many Bengali theatre groups in Kolkata have been performing this drama from then on, but Kasba Uttaran has definitely done it efficiently and quite professionally in Madhusudan Mancha, Dhakuria. Initially I was in dilemma to give permission to this group, but I believe in motivating the theatre groups, and hence I declared. From the onset of the play, the performers had attracted my attention completely with the excellence of their acting and dialogue delivery. Without even fiddling or tampering any word used by my father in the drama, the performers presented this poetic brilliance with their radiant stage presence, especially Tarangini, Wrishwasringa, Lolapangi and Bibhandak. The director of Kasba Uttaran has drawn the picture so eminently well with perfect music and choreography that the overall production becomes one of the superior productions in Calcutta."
